Two drug trials in the therapeutic areas of Menières Disease and acute hearing loss have been initiated at the CRC Hannover with the ENT Clinic (Otolaryngology) of the Hannover Medical School

On October 26, 2016, the ENT Clinic (Otolaryngology) of the Hannover Medical School (Prof. Prof. h. c. Dr. med. T. Lenarz) started the first collaborative clinical trial together with the team for early clinical trials/MHH CRC Core Facility (Prof. Dr. med. C. Schindler). The study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a newly developed investigational drug compared with placebo in patients with Menières Disease.

As of November 9, 2016, patients suffering from acute hearing loss can be included in a phase II trial testing the efficacy and safety of a new drug. There is so far no scientifically established drug therapy approved for acute hearing loss. The investigational drug tested in this study aims to improve blood flow and rheology in the inner ear.
